Merdeka Day 2008

Hari Kemerdekaan ke 51 (Malaysian Independence Day ). This my 2nd year that I celebrate Hari Kemerdekaan in Labuan Island. So my task in that day is to shoot what happen after the parade. I always imagine that there will be a lot of garbage in the street, so me and my sifoo go to the parade when its almost finished. When we arrived there we so weird when there is no garbage in the street. When we meet other photographers they said the cleaners clean the street when the parade are still on. I’m very impressed.

Not everyone rest on their rest day

A man with a flag after the parade.

Happy Merdeka Day to Malaysian and ” Selamat Menyambut Bulan Ramadhan”

The Coconut Stories

The story began when I went to Binsulok Nature Resort for Friendship Camp4. I bring along my camera (of course la) in case their something to learn there beside join the activity that has being planned. This photo taken at 10.55 a.m mean in peninsular Malaysia the time same like 12.55 p.m. As my sifoo said if you want to shoot a beach you must find something that can attract everybody to look at your picture. Everybody can shoot a beach but you must find something that can make your picture different. He gave me a coconut and said ” what are you waiting for? shoot la”. Me and my friend Wahidi trying our best to shoot the coconut and the beach. What is so interesting about that? Even my other friends said ” Are you all crazy? Taking picture of the coconut in the afternoon”. Crazy or not but i’m very satisfied with my picture.

The Coconut

There is another one:

I called this picture the moment because waiting for the small wave to hit the coconut is to long. I wanted the wave to look like a blanket that coverd the coconut. I almost give up because the sun burning my skin. The moment when i released the shutter button for the last time, some how i get this picture.

Tenom,2007

tenom_mlm3.jpg

Tenom is a town located in Interior Division of Sabah, east Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The town was formerly called Fort Birch in the colonial period. Its population was estimated to be around 46,200 in the year 2000.

The principal ethnic groups are Murut (60%), followed by Chinese (20%), Malay (10%), and Kadazan-Dusun (8%). The area is primarily an agricultural zone, with soy beans, maize, vegetables and cacao the major crops. Tenom is one of Sabah’s more scenic interior locations, with the Crocker Range towering impressively immediately behind town. It is also known as the “gateway to Murut country”. The annual festival of the Murut community known as Pesta Kalimaran is held in Tenom.

In the center of Tenom is a statue to Ontoros Antonom (1885-1915), who led the Rundum Revolt of the Murut people against the British colonists in the Rundum District of Tenom in 1915.

The Sabah Agricultural Park (Lagud Sebrang Agriculture Research Station), the Tenom Orchid Centre and the Murut Cultural Center are located outside of town.

Tenom is the final stop for passengers on the North Borneo Railway.

Check Mate!

the_king.jpg

Death of the king was taken with my sifoo studio lamp . The advantages using studio lamp for me that we can control the lighting that we want. We can set the light where ever we like, that’s very interesting. It so different when we use the natural lighting. If we wanted to have a beautiful picture with the natural light we must be in the right time in the right place to shoot the picture.

This picture was taken using Nikon D80. f/20. 1/60. ISO 100.

The Entry

Everyone like photography..We can’t denied that photography is part of our life nowadays..Seem everyone can be a photographer but to take a marvelous picture we must have a knowledge about photography first. Skills, technics, composition and etc is important knowledge that a photographer must have to take a marvelous picture. And then come the challenge how to practice the knowledge..It’s not easy as it looks actually..Sometime we feel that we are tide to the rule how the picture must be..As my sifoo said” Sometime we must against the rule if you find when you against it you can get a beautiful picture”.
